Culm sheaths: 5-18 cm × 6-13 cm, apex straight or slightly rounded, rough dorsal surface, shiny ventral surface, lower culms with aerial root, stright or curved, leaf blade upto 6 cm apex acuminate, ligules present, culm sheath with brownish hairs
Leaves: Oblong, lanceolate, leaf base rounded, leaf stalk cylindrical, clear main vein visible from both leaf surfaces, 8- 50 cm × 1.5-8 cm, broad, not smooth, tapering apex
Stems: Rootlets in lower internodes, secondary branches many
Internode distance: 30 to 50 cm
